Advanced Law Degree

In general, you should find a master’s degree in legal education a rather advanced law degree. Yet, the study of law has many varied complexities that you can never really limit an advanced law degree to the masteral level. That is why in many US law schools, you will find that apart from a Master of Laws graduate program, there are many other advanced law degree courses like a Doctor of Laws.

Normally, when you want to do more than just practice your legal expertise, you pursue higher education. In particular, if you have plans of pursuing a related legal career, like doing researches on various forms of documents, an advanced law degree should be of great help. (1)

Actually, this is a rather common goal of many lawyers who are interested in applying for an advanced law degree program. Many such programs offer their students a variety of opportunities that are not necessarily limited to actual legal practice. A good example of this is a possible career in the academe, either as a college professor or as a school researcher. In some law schools where advanced law graduate programs are available, you will pleasantly find that you have a far greater chance of being admitted to the program if you express an interest in entering the teaching profession. (2)

In addition, you should find a regular class in advanced graduate programs rather small in size. This is because the program wants you to be fully prepared for an alternative career in the legal field. It is not because there are very few qualified applicants. It is more of trying to conduct a highly individualized form of classroom instruction so you will come out highly specialized in the alternate field that you have chosen.

One other popular reason as to why an advanced law degree is often sought is because some programs can actually qualify you to take a bar exam in other American states. (3). For example, if you are a practicing lawyer in Albany but you want to practice law in New York, you can try looking for several Albany-based law schools that are known to offer advanced law degree programs. In these graduate offerings, admission to several state bars like in New York is not uncommon.

2 year law degree

A law degree is a type of degree that will be given to you after you have accomplished an academic program in law. (1) Getting a law degree would typically take you about three to four years of studying law. But, if you don’t have the patience to study that long, you can still become a lawyer by acquiring a two year law degree program. Yes, you’ve read that right. There’s such a thing as a two year law degree. The 2 year law degree, a program brought about by the American Bar Association, is a degree that enables you to finish your law degree in just a matter of two years. (2) So, just imagine, if you applied in a 2 year law degree, you’ll not only start earning faster, you’ll also fulfill your dream of being a lawyer quicker.

Benefits of the Two Year Law Degree Program

The 2 year law degree program has raised the number of students applying for law education. (3) As it turned out, a lot of people have realized the benefits of getting their law degrees in two years as opposed to the traditional three to four years. Just to let you have a glimpse of the beauty of the two year law degree program, below are some of the benefits of acquiring a two year law degree program:

1. Saves you time – One of the benefits of getting a two year law degree is that you’d be able to save time. With the 2 year law degree, you’d be able to practice being a lawyer sooner than usual. Because of this, you’d also be able to enjoy immediately the life, not to mention the earnings, of a lawyer.

2. Saves you money – Although the lesser number of years in the two year law degree doesn’t equate to a lesser amount of tution, getting a two year law degree will save you money by lessening your living expenses. Since you’re only going to study law for two years instead of three or four, you’re going to save one or two years’ worth of living expenses.

The number of years of studying law can hinder some people from becoming a lawyer. Because of this, the development of the 2 year law degree is such a boon to aspiring lawyers. You should, however, remember that even if studying law has been shortened to two years, you should still harness your writing, critical reading, oral communication, general research, problem solving, and task organization skills to prepare yourself in law school. Albany Law School

A primary concern of those who are taking up law is whether they can pass the required bar exam the very first time they take it. If you happen to fall under this general category of law students, there is only one law school that you need to go to. That school is none other than the Albany Law School.

Based on the records that Albany Law School released recently, first-time exam takers from Albany Law School registered a high 86 percent passing rate during the New York bar held last July. In addition, of the exam takers coming from Albany Law School, approximately 80 percent of them were successful in passing the test. The rate exceeded by over nine percent the average passing rate for New York-based bar takers. (1)

Apart from an impressive passing rate in the bar exam, you should find the task of getting a job quite easy once you graduate from Albany Law School. This is because there is a career center set up within Albany Law School that is ready to help you out in looking for the most suitable job in the legal arena.

The career center of the Albany Law School has direct connections, not only with law firms, but with various government agencies as well such that once it identifies highly-qualified graduates, it can refer these to the company or companies where they will be most productive. The process is quite successful such that law graduates from Albany Law School experience a high 97 percent employment turnout. (2)

If you happen to have a preference for financial matters but are equally interested in legal issues as well, you can take a special program that the Albany Law School launched last year. The program is designed to introduce you to the basics of financial marketing with a concentration on accountability and business law.

Once you graduate from the program, you should be able to take on an alternative career in financing, specifically stock market matters. This ought to be rather interesting because, according to New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Chief Regulatory Officer Richard Ketchum, there is a current shortage of professionals who can be effective managers in the said field. Bachelor’s Degree In Law

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in law so as to become a lawyer may seem like an arduous task but once you have earned it, opportunities and benefits are countless, not to mention the prestige usually associated with this degree. Before you choose this career path however, it’s important to prepare yourself and have the determination to finish your undergraduate studies, your post-undergraduate studies, and pass the bar exam. Since a LLB Law Degree can be granted to you once you finish law school, this is the course to take if you dream of defending people’s rights as a career. (1)

A bachelor degree in law can open up a lot of opportunities. Aside from preparing you to become a full-pledged lawyer, a law degree can equip you with the right skills in order to work for the government and large corporations as well. As for the salary rate of lawyers, you can expect a considerable amount since there are numerous firms that offer competitive packages. But of course, a competitive compensation package has a price — longer working hours. If you plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in law to become a lawyer someday, expect long working hours especially if you are working on a big case. In the US, salary rates may vary from state to state. The most competitive packages, however, come from large New York law firms. (2)

When looking for a law school, you can search the Internet or ask among friends and relatives regarding their previous experiences in a law school. Brochures and leaflets regarding the different degrees and specializations a law school may offer contain updated information, aside from the school’s official website. As for tuition rates, it’s best to visit a law school’s official website or visit the actual school for an inquiry. Whatever law school you choose, make sure that the school’s program and curriculum are suitable to your needs, especially if you are trying to raise a family or you plan to keep on working at the same time. Currently, there are online schools in the US that offer such a degree but you should know that the ABA or American Bar Association does not recognize online law schools as a general rule. (3)

Business Law Degree

As the global economy grows more complex each day, do you know that business managers are also facing a new challenge? To ensure the success of their business, they seek the expert advice of corporate lawyers. Entrepreneurs and financial analysts alike need to learn more about the legal framework of certain regulations, which affects the market trends and the economy as a whole. In return, this helps them become more adept in making policies and management plans that are geared toward the future of business probabilities. Because of these, more people are looking into the possibility of combining MBA and law degree. (1)

Business law degrees operate based on the basic concept of business, law, and management. With a degree in business law, you may be able to review corporate contracts and observe the proper practices of hiring, sales, as well as manufacturing of consumer goods. (2) On the other hand, they say that with an MBA degree, you can already go a long way– from entry level positions to higher executive posts. (3) But to help you secure a special place in the dynamic business world, perhaps, an MBA law degree would be a better option. Listed below are three good reasons why you need to have a business law degree:

*More Career Opportunities
Large corporations and international companies hire employees who have the knowledge and skills needed to analyze real business situations. They need people who understand both management and business principles as well as government regulations under which the company may operate. Hence, having a business law degree gives you more career options in various fields such as finance analysis, business development, banking, investments, and policy-making. (4) You can also go into private or public practice, whatever interest will serve you best. (5)

*Higher Salaries
With a law and business degree, you can climb the success ladder easily. Your claimed expertise in business and law can help you qualify for a post as a consultant. Better career options also mean higher salary offers. Moreover, being a business law degree holder can also be a ground for promotion, wherein you may be named as the new senior manager or head of a department. Indeed, taking up a course on business law can be a great investment to a more profitable future.

*Reduced Educational Cost
Instead of taking up two different courses, such as an MBA or a law degree, business law degrees can help you save on time, energy, and rising tuition cost. If you don’t know which course will help you achieve your career goals, why not combine both degrees and explore more opportunities? (6)
