California Western School of Law

California Western School of Law, which also goes by the names Cal Western and California Western, is a private law school situated in the city of San Diego in California. (1) A nonprofit academic institution, California Western School of Law is best known for its exceptional law degree programs that produce some of the best lawyers in the country.

Being the first ever law school in San Diego, California Western School of Law was first introduced in 1924 bearing the name of Balboa Law College. Due to some problems, the school closed down in 1952 and later reopened in 1958 as the law studies subsidiary of California Western University. (2) California Western University recently changed its name to United States International University but the law school retained the name of California Western School of Law.

California Western Law is known for its high quality education that made it worthy of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) accreditation in 1962. (3) The law school is also a proud member of the Association of American Law Schools and the Law School Admission Council.

The California Western School of law offers Juris Doctor Degree programs, Master of Law Degree programs, and Dual Degree programs. When it comes to areas of expertise, the specific areas of law which are offered by California Western School includes Labor and Employment Law, Health Law and Policy, Creative Problem Solving, International Law, Criminal Justice Program, Child, Family and Elder Law, and International Property, Telecommunications and Technology Regulation. (4) As for academics, California Western School of Law educates and trains its students to develop excellent communication skills, outstanding analytical judgment, superb writing proficiency, and exceptional problem solving abilities.

Aside from its noteworthy law degree programs, California Western School of Law also takes pride in being the home to two of some of the most remarkable student publications regarding the study of law. The scholarly journals which are run by the students of California Western School are the California Western Law Review and the California Western International Law Journal. The California Western International Law Journal is considered to be one of the first International Law publications in the United States. (5)
