Employment Law Degree
Employment Law Degree is a sub-type of Master of Law, or LLM, which specializes in the study of employee relationship. The main focus of an Employment Law Degree program is of course, the employment law. The employment law, which is sometimes called the labor law, is the collection of rules, laws, and restrictions regarding the world of employment and organization.
The employment law is further divided into four sub-types: the individual labor law, the collective labor law, the national labor law, and the international labor law. Some of the concepts which are included in the mentioned types of employment law are employer-employee relations, child labor, anti-discrimination policies, co-determination, contract of employment, health and safety, employee wages, trade unions, and economic sabotage types such as picketing, strikes, boycotts, and protests. (5) The employment law is very important because it protects the rights of workers against gender discrimination, racism, and general injustice. (3)
Employment Law Degree programs are dedicated to developing the knowledge and comprehension of the students about the concepts concerning the employment law. Being familiarized with the different topics and concepts regarding the employment law helps the students to have better analytical and reflective skills when it comes to topics like human rights, discrimination, labor laws, equal payments, employment termination, trade unions, industrial relations laws, comparative employment, and employment policies. The requirements needed to complete an Employment Law Degree may vary depending on the prepared course outline of the school. Employment Law Degree programs usually require a lot of examinations, projects, coursework, dissertations, and sometimes, thesis presentations.
Obtaining an Employment Law Degree opens new doors and create numerous possibilities of having careers in public body legal services, trade union posts, legal private practice, and human resource departments. Students of Employment Law Degree programs are educated and trained in order to be effective representatives of unions, managements, employees, companies, and other some employment-related government institutions such as the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Human Rights Commission.
