Hofstra Law School

Hofstra Law School, which is sometimes called Hofstra School of Law, is the center for law studies in Hempstead, New York’s Hofstra University. Established in 1970, it is a part of the private, nonsectarian, and coeducational institution of Hofstra University. (1)

The law degree programs offered by Hofstra Law School are Juris Doctor degree programs, Master of Laws in Family Law, joint Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law, Juris Doctor/Master of Science in Taxation, and Master of Laws in American Law. (2) Because of its partnership with other international law schools, Hofstra Law School also offers some study abroad programs which allows its students to study in other countries such as Australia, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The courses included in the outstanding Hofstra Law School curriculum are Advocacy, Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Environmental and Natural Resources, Estate Planning, Family Law, Government Law and the Legislative Process, Health Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Law, Labor and Employment Law, Legal History and Social Science, Litigation, Philosophy and Ethics, Real Estate and Property Law, Taxation, and Torts. An advocate of law research, Hofstra Law School also takes pride in its very own publication that tackles the issues and concepts which circulate the world of law and justice. The flagship journal of the Hofstra Law School is the quarterly published Hofstra Law Review. (4) It was first introduced to the students of Hofstra School of Law through its 1973 maiden issue. The mentioned student-run publication which is dedicated to spreading the importance of the legal system and other law concepts is currently in its 35th volume. The other publications released by the Hofstra School of Law are the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal, the Family Court Review, and the Journal of International Business and Law.

The fifty members of the Hofstra Law School faculty are some of the best in their chosen fields of expertise. They dedicate themselves into educating and training their students into becoming great men of the law. Hofstra Law School gives more emphasis on the skills of the students by using the three skill-based education methods namely externships, simulation-based courses, and client representation clinics.
