New York City is home to some of the best law schools in the US. This includes the NYU (New York University) School of Law. Located in Greenwich Village, NYU School of Law was established in 1835 and is the first law school in New York. (1) NYU School of Law is one of the most esteemed law schools in the US. US News and World Report has ranked the NYU School of Law as the fourth best US law school and the top New York law school. (2)

NYU School of Law has degree programs for J.D.(Juris Doctor), LL.M. (Master of Laws), and J.S.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science).(3) NYU Law School also offers scholarship programs, such as the Hauser Global Scholarship, to students enrolled in the LL.M. law degree program. The Hauser Global Scholarship guarantees full waiver of tuition fees and reduced accommodation costs for students. NYU School of Law also offers a four-year joint LL.B. and J.D program in cooperation with the Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada.

NYU School of Law publishes eight student-edited law journals. These are the New York University Law Review, Annual Survey of American Law, Journal of International Law and Politics, Review of Law and Social Change, Environmental Law Journal, Journal of Legislation and Public Policy, Journal of Law and Liberty, and the Journal of Law and Business.(4)

NYU School of Law alumni and faculty have figured prominently in various fields such as politics, broadcasting, business, and entertainment. The list of famous NYU School of Law alumni includes former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, US Senators Rudy Boschwitz, Lamar Alexander, and Jacob Javits, and US Representatives such as Mitchell Jenkins, Jefferson Monroe Levy, and Isaac Levy. Legal luminaries from the NYU School of Law include Judith Kaye, chief judge of the New York Court of Appeal and Dennis G. Jacobs, chief judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Other famous NYU School of Law alumni are John F. Kennedy Jr. and Southwest Airlines founder Herb Kelleher. The list of notable NYU School of Law faculty includes Ronald Dworkin, Burt Neuborne, Norman Dorsen, Joseph H.H. Weiler, Arthur R. Miller, and Cynthia Estlund. (5)
