BC Law or Dean Dooley’s Law School
The Boston College Law School was established in the year 1929, which is 78 years ago. (1) The school is known to local folks as the BC Law. (2) The academe, meanwhile, sometimes credit the law school to its founder, Dennis Dooley. The Boston College Law School’s initial vision is to become an institution that has “… a social conscience and an analytical mind.” (1)
True to this vision, the Boston College Law School has earned the respect of the trial community not just in the United States but also abroad because of the spate of honors it brought itself. What might have brought forth this distinction is Dooley and his team’s commitment to raise its standards and train lawyers and lawmakers to strive for justice and reform in the society. (1) This effort to make the Boston College Law School one of the law schools of choice did not remain mum to the American Bar Association, which accredited BC Law in the year 1932, a measly three years after it was conceived. (1) At present, the US News and World Report ranks Dean Dooley’s Law School as the 28th best law school in the country, while Brody Admissions places it in the 23rd spot. Brody Admissions also hailed BC Law as third among the law schools of choice in New England. (2) That is, alongside schools such as Boston University and the Harvard University Law School!
The honors attributed to the Boston College Law School do not end there. As per the latest statistics, only 2% of the graduates of the BC Law are unemployed. (3) And, due to the quality of graduates that Dean Dooley’s Law School produces, students here are hailed as among the 15 most preferred picks by law firms in the United States. (2) And, these are not just law firms, these are institutions in the judiciary field such as the Hispanic Bar Association and the Supreme Court. Most graduates of the Boston College Law School also get elected to key positions in the government. (2)
