The University of Miami School of Law, established in 1926, is the legal education division of the University of Miami. The law school is situated in Coral Gables, Florida, one of the most exciting international cities in the country. Programs and Curriculum
For their first year in the University of Miami School of Law, law students must complete three years of full-time legal study with a minimum requirement of 88 credits to earn their Juris Doctor Degree (J.D. degree). Some of the required courses for first year law students of the University of Miami School of Law are Torts, Contracts, and Civil Procedure. (3)
After they have earned their J.D. Degrees, law students may also want to pursue a Master of Laws degree (LL.M. degree) and specialize in one of the following areas of study: Estate Planning, Taxation, Cooperative Law, International Law, Inter-American Law, Real Property Development, and Ocean and Coastal Law. Prospective lawyers also have the option of pursuing the joint degrees offered by the University of Miami School of Law to complement their legal education with other fields of study. These joint degree programs are J.D./Marine Affairs Program, J.D./MBA Program, J.D./Masters in Public Health Program, and J.D./LL.M Program for Taxation, Inter-American Law, International Law or Ocean & Coastal Law.
