Yale Law School admits only 200 new law students every year, making it one of the most selective and competitive law schools in the United States. Above 70% of Yale Law School applicants are subjected to an initial screening by the Dean of Admissions and the Director of Admissions. The files of remaining applicants are scanned by three members of the law school's faculty, each given a rating from 0 (lowest) to 4 (highest). A perfect rating given by all three faculty members results to a 12, which means that the applicant is admitted to the school. A score of 11 usually means that the applicant is on the waiting list.
